What type of fabric should I order?

Spoonflower has a fabulous selection of fabrics for every type of project. They have great photos and descriptions here: https://www.spoonflower.com/en/fabric-shop

When I am thread painting a piece to be stretched over stretcher bars I really like the “Lightweight Cotton Twill”. It has a nice weight to it, some texture in the fabric and the color prints beautifully.

When I am doing a larger quilted piece I often use the “Petal Signature Cotton”, it is fairly thin but not see through in a quilt. It prints the colors slightly less vivid which I don’t mind for certain projects. I like the way it quilts and the price is less than some of their other products.

I love working with the “Cotton Sateen”. It prints very bold and bright and has a sheen to it which I liked for my vintage car series.

Minky or fleece are both very nice for lap quilts or baby blankets.

I haven’t found a fabric I don’t like, I just try to order the right one for the project. I printed 5x7 cards on velvet and sewed them to cardstock and they made great cards!
