In my neighbor's horse pasture, in the middle of a marsh, there is a huge clump of marsh marigolds. They bloom in early spring, surrounded by the mud of the spring marsh. They literally shine in the sun. Their leaves look a bit like lily pads in shape but are small and stand up on stems reaching for the sky.
I had a wonderful time creating the fabrics for this piece (the border fabric is a commerical batik). The background is a photo I took of another one of my pieces (with beads on it), enlarged a great deal and “warped” on the computer design program. I think the beads ended up looking like eyes peering out from behind the flowers. (Friendly eyes, like a frog’s perhaps.)
Created using my own custom fabric designs, beads, and quilted. Mounted on a wooden frame to easily hang on your wall.
