30 of my fiber art animal portraits will be on display at the New England Quilt Museum in Lowell MA from March 26-June 15. I will give a talk on March 30th at 11 AM. Please check dates and hours on the museum website before making the trip.

Domestic Partners Series

Animals have always been my partners in life. One of my best childhood friends was my cat. Looking back I realize that I was kind of a pest as a toddler, but he loved me anyway. I always thought he slept with me all night, but my parents later told me he stayed with me just long enough for me to fall asleep, then went out to hunt, and then came back in the morning.

When I was 13 I got a horse, and we had some wild times together. Sometimes we were deeply connected, and other times we argued. I learned a lot about being a partner from Okeema, and now I’m a better partner to my current equines because of her.

In college I studied various methods of working with animals, including telepathic communication. Those studies led to my lifelong vocation of working as an animal communicator. I started sewing and making quilts when I was very young. In 2017 I started focusing on quilted pet portraits, combining my two passions. I published two books with my pet portraits, The Art of Meditating with Cats and The Art of Meditating with Dogs.

I became inspired to create this series, Domestic Partners, to capture the relationships and love that we humans have with our animals. Many of the images depict humans and their animals together, telling a piece of their emotional story. My purpose for including images of animals on their own is to invite you to look into their eyes and feel that you know them. This is an invitation to understand the emotions of our domestic partners.
