Fresh New Start

This was a big week! I bought a new sewing machine- a Janome. I am so excited. I have been fighting with my old machine for the past year. It just isn't big enough and it runs a bit rough. I got it serviced twice to no avail. So... I went shopping and now I have a big unopened box in my studio. I wish I could use the machine right now, but I am waiting for a table to put it on. My father is making one for me so the sewing area will be flush with the machine. (How much longer dad? I can't wait.)

I felt the new machine would want a beautiful home, so I cleaned out and organized my entire studio. Three exhausting hours later I looked around and felt happy! The study is ready for me.

Clean studio. Fabric on the left, happy art all over the place, and my old tiny machine in front. (My kids will use the old machine and my new machine will be to the right of them (to the left in this photo.)

I also contacted Blackbirch Vineyard in Southampton MA and arranged to have a solo exhibit there for August/September. I will be keeping you up to date on what I am making for the show.

Here is the last piece I quilted on my own machine. I just wasn't happy with the results but there is something intriguing about the fabric (my own original design). I think I will reprint the fabric, and quilt it with my new machine.

Love and happy art, Dawn
